Description

The Markenfields of Markenfield Hall were closely interconnected with the gentry and nobility of Northern England. Among the ancestors of the last Markenfield to live at the hall, Thomas Markenfield (c. 1532 – 1592) were the earls of Northumberland and Westmorland, linking the family distantly to the Plantagenet dynasty.
