Tudor Times Insights: James, Earl of Moray, Regent of Scotland £3.50

Sorry, this combination has sold out.

Description

James Stewart, Earl of Moray was an illegitimate son of James V. He played a pivotal role in the politics of Scotland between 1555 and his assassination in 1571, first as a supporter of his half-sister, Mary, Queen of Scots, but later as her rival for power. Moray’s career is controversial – definitely involved in the murder of Mary’s secretary, Riccio, was he also behind the plot to assassinate Darnley with a hidden plan to overthrow Mary? Or was he merely a dutiful servant of the Scottish state, who took on the role of Regent to try to bring stability to the nation?

Tudor Times Insights are short but comprehensive introductions to Tudor and Stewart personalities.
